more than a spleening

friday the 13th was a day of convergences.
that's the wrong word.
coincidences?
still the wrong word.

happenings.

something is the happening...

i don't know what i would do if M. Night Shyamalan (name pronounced "SHAH-ma-lawn") stopped making movies. who would i make fun of? i guess there's always Arnold Schwarzenegger quoting his famous movie lines in broken english under the auspices of BEING THE GOVERNOR OF CALIFORNIA!!!! so a-barassing.

it kind of makes me hate california and feel shame about contributing to the horrors of this first world hell.

jl: H.P. Lovecraft, would you like to weigh in? hpl: Certainly Jen. Sometimes I believe that this less material life is our truer life, and that our vain presence on the terraqueous globe is itself the secondary or merely virtual phenomenon. jl: Word.

So now that we've got that out of the way, how about something french?
Ya. French bread.
You may remember me asking way back in november of 08 if i could ever improve my french bread making skills. (http://tiptoeingsanstulips.blogspot.com/2008/11/if-so.html)
well i think maybe i did.
or it just worked out well this time and will never rule again...whatever.

i ate it without even wearing a beret and it still tasted really pretty good.

most of the things i eat are on saucers. little spoons little plates. i could go for a divided dinner setup if stupid yuppies hadn't fetishised bento boxes to such an awkward degree.

summer. comin'. in an abstract sense. need to make a plan.

spring. comin'. in a more tangible way. though it's still -29 so i am finding it hard to imagine, personally. The aptly named Thaw-di-Gras festival happens here in the something of the somewhere. Spleen of the Klondike. That's it. Anyhow i am looking forward to Dawson kicking it live. Lip syncing, tricycle racing, chili cook-offing...oh ya.
Fake spring is weird.
Wrong word.
coincidental?
still the wrong word.

happenings. yes. the shoulder seasons are rich with happenings.
and anxiety. i feel like the spleen of the klondike!

Cave of Spleen

some final reflections from aforementioned superstar director,
my friend and yours m. night:

"I'm a master, a virtuoso – they can be handing me the keys to the kingdom and all I can think is, I hope I don't drop the key. "

yes. exactly.
