i had a dream last night and you were in it

well certainly many people were.

Picture is from the train in the Adirondacks, double exposed with the view from the fire escape at Orchard Street. Thanks to Kris's Holga for the help.

this picture reminds me of said dream i had last night.
i first dreamt i was on some sort of trans-european train journey, (possibly aboard the trans europe express, hard to say) only it was a very odd train with plastic accordion dividers (not unlike those in an RV) that separated blocks of seats. It looked more like a bus on the inside, but i assure it was a train. i was on it with several of my friends and some local teens stole lottery tickets from my backpack while i slept on the train at one point too. It's possible i knew others aboard but never saw them.
Night time train ride. Pleasant but for the brief theft incident, a verbal confrontation with one of the better known dream guests, and a near miss in almost falling out the back of the train and having to be saved.
Ugh.
According to many of the very reliable and fulsome dream-interpretation databases available on the world-wide-interweb, dreaming you are on a train symbolises life's journey and indicates being on track.
i believe this to be a lie. Doesn't really account for the almost falling out, does it?
But shit gets crazier.
Later on in the trans europe train journey however, at one of the stops, we travelled to a zoo (it was still night time and i think it was supposed to be spain) wherein a sketchy man escorted us (at this point a mixed group of friends and strangers)to a bladerunner looking compound. It was a bat cage. This part is hard to describe, so i drew it.

Now i've been dreaming about bats since i was teen, but i think this is my subconscious's first foray into vampire bats. Dream interpretation guides indicate across the board that vampire bats are not a good thing to dream about....quel surprise. The best assessment i encountered was: "to see a vampire bat in your dream represents that a person in your life may be draining your of self-confidence and/or your resources." Now that is promising shit, right? It's especially funny because vampire bats don't even suck your blood, they just give you the wound and then lap up the blood around it, which is somehow even more sinister than sucking.

At any rate, despite the claims of 'on-trackness' once at this bat-cage it became apparent that in the subterranean basement "moat" below it lived a diverse selection of gypsy-type waifs who were forced to sacrifice themselves to feed the vampire bats on a rotating basis, and we were not there to see the bats at all, but to be incorporated into this terrible network of suckers living below it and being shoved in every now and again, roman-cage fight style, to be sucked upon by jerk vampire bats.
and escape ensued, a couple people ended up getting bitten by the bats, and the next thing i knew we were all in a small euro-auto, possibly a peugot, cruising towards the sea. I nearly fell out of the car and scraped my back quite badly.
We reached a beach and then i sat on the dark beach by the water for a while and felt better. I was not bitten by a bat, so that's good.
Eventually i made it back to the train station and got back on, but this leg of the trip it was just me.
just me on a train, bein' on track.

obviously.

and you know that's not all

\

soon i have to go back to the working.
i just don't know if am ready.
i want to go on holiday already.
i'm sure it will be an enjoyable year, i just want to have an angry baby fit about it, fairly internally, for the next two weeks or so.

It was nice outside all the day yesterday and all the day (sofar) today.
Almost like it's summer or some shit.
The light is all different and cool, or fresh, as the french are fond of saying.
fresh indeed.

Why would 'spud' ever have emerged to replace 'potato'?
why?
it makes my heart beat fast but not in a good way.

i have never met a successful five year plan.
i have never met a Samoan (sp?).

it is going to be rough no matter what.

la lune:

for us by us.

all for jen.

etc.

i can also be wrong

Oh i see a darkness.
It is so christ dark outside. Christ dark...that's dark.
And rainy. Always raining. Sounds very beautiful on the tin but other than that its charms are waning.
Additionally, it is quite cold...thanks for nothing la nina or julio or katrina or whatever weathersystem is responsible for stealing our sunshine.
Len warned you not to, man.
They warned you.

But you didn't listen. ------>it's fucking over my christ garden!<------- i fear summer is slipping through my fingertips like sand....or if i was The Sandman in shitty Spiderman 3, summer would be slipping through my sand like stuff.

{when we were waiting at the cinema in beautiful downtown Whitehorse to see Spiderman 3, a carload of brosefs drove by and yelled "losers". it was tough, but fair.}

Speaking of summer slipping through my fingertips/everything slipping through my sand-tips, i guess i have to do some light lesson planning sometime in the near future...or at the very least read comics at work instead of on my porch to begin getting accustomed to the building again.
That's an excellent first step to be sure.
I want to throw a tantrum about it a little for sure. Mildly panic-inducing. I had a terrible university -themed nightmare last night, wherein it was the first day of another year of etudes and i didn't know where any of my classes were and i was late and missing books and there were no left handed desks and everyone was staring with their eyes...blech. First days of anything are utter and complete fucking faggotry if you ask me. I wish that they would just get on with mass distributing those memory erasers from Men in Black (MIB). I would totally buy one.
Sometimes it seems like i only watch shitty movies with black men in them.
This is only somewhat true.
I guess i could have compared my memory-erase fantasy extraordinaire (sp?) to the whitey-heavy Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, but it turns out i actually liked MIB better. Straight up. Better "film".

Stop!

Affirmation/Philosophy/Olympic Break:

"It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop."

This segment has been brought to you by Confucius via the stupid Olympics.
Isn't going slowly sort of not the point of the olympics?
Maybe i'm missing the true point. Probably.
I know everyone's stoked.
I'm sorry i can't drum up the apt level of enthusiasm forthe ol' Olympiad. I like the winter ones okay.
It's just so much pomp and fakery and kind of crap. I would like to watch UN Olympics. I think that'd be a slice.
Sort of like this, only MORE multicultural:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ur5fGSBsfq8 (oh god please watch this)
Additionally http://en.beijing2008.cn/, "The Official Website of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games" (catchy) has introduced me to the 2008 Paralympics. September 6-17, hot on the trail of big Olympic. Tickets for the Paralympic events are between 4-7 canadian bucks, whereas you're looking at 125 for some of the "regular" olympic ones. Get thrifty, sports enthusiasts. And while you're at it, get progressive.

I am still exceptionally full from Aurora dinner.
Verrry continental experience.
Much like their website promised, i left "wondering how such quality can be found in a northern gold mining town at the top of the world". Right.

I don't feel to sleeping but i have to keep house and cable tomorrow day.
Bsh.
Though yesterdaywhilst cabling i got to go up to the "headend"....which is essentially a sweetly post-apocalyptic windowless fortress of receivers, satellite dishes, confusing wires etc. up on the dome.
Sweet view up river. I think next time i'll try to bring my camera...perhaps under the guise of taking pictures of the 'site' for cable 'research'.
That's pretty flimsy, i know. Even for me.

another shitty day in paradise

i have a lot of hilarious memories of the Klondike Highway (Old Shitty the Tin Highway).
my first trip up said highway was in Steve's Neon with no shocks to speak of, 5 people, and a huge rubber ball strapped to the exterior of the car. There were two; one blew off just north of Whitehorse. We also had vast amounts of luggage strapped to the outside of the trunk. And we ran out of gas. Luckily we had the giant ball to entertain us while we waiting for Aaron to return with a jerry can. And it's hard to drive through Carmacks without remembering Jenna and my magical overnight adventure there in aught five (also the result of gas running out). I have quite possibly never been so hungover. I threw up on the inside of Jenna's truck and we had to wipe it up with a t-shirt featuring a bunch of drunk and stoned cartoon cats and the phrase "Another Shitty Day in Paradise". It was somehow meant to represent Jamaica. I'm not sure how. I subsequently stole a bottle of Pepto Bismal at Superstore once we arrived in Whitehorse and then threw that up on the floor of Superstore. It wasn't my finest hour.

Today i drove by myself and it was pretty sweet. Five and a half hours alone in a car really gives you time to think and sing along to jamz. To quote an artist friend, "I am the best person I know", so the time went prettttttyyyyy fast.
Not actually.
And it's frusterating to not have DJ help. Ipod shuffle can certainly remind one that not all music is suited to all times. Jesus.
Why do i have so many Skinny Puppy albums to begin with?
Despite some questionable song choices, it was a pretty nice day out and i saw 2 black bears and a mother moose and calf. I think the most noteable thing about the drive was that RVs were shockingly not the most irritating thing. No. Almost the opposite...cyclists. Long distance cyclists.
I understand if you live out of town and ain't got no ride that a bike jaunt on the highway is fair...but these Europas who shuttle over to show me how much more they appreciate nature than any Canadian ever could by biking in packs on the highway all up in everyone's business whilst wearing yellow spandex can suck my dick. That sounds harsh, but i feel it's fair.

I got to Whitehorse without "accidentally" running any cyclists off the road though, and let me tell you the Whitehorse section of highway is a real biker's paradise. I even managed to play it cool with the city driving. Sort of. Relatively speaking. I don't get out much.
Now i am chillin' at the Yukon Inn with one Style Hammond. He is sleeping now, cos it's Halifax late, but we went out for sushi and watched some crap cable. It was sweet. I am now gearing up to watch Spaceballs.
Nothing like watching Spaceballs in Whitehorse on a wednesday night to keep you humble.
